Korek Mountain is one of the outstanding mountains in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region; located north of Erbil city. It faces the entrance of the famous Galley Ali Beg gorge with its beautiful waterfall. The exposed rocks at the entrance of the gorge belong to the Bekhme Formation which consists of many types of carbonate rocks with a total thickness of around 100 m.
Currently our Company with partnerships, is trying establish two cement factories; one in Bazian with a local partner, the other in Garmian with a foreign partner. These two factories are important and they will have a good role in the area. Aside from cement materials, Kurdistan is rich with mineral, and most of them are untouched yet.

Oct 09, 2020#0183;#32;Iraq: Chinabased China Machinery Engineering has secured a contract for the establishment of an integrated cement plant in Erbil, Kurdistan. Dow Jones Newswire Chinese News has reported that the plant is scheduled for completion in April 2023, at a total investment cost of US210m. Last modified on 14 October 2020.

In a sign of confidence that Iraq is stabilising, Lafarge has now undertaken to rehabilitate and operate a cement plant near Karbala in the south.
